Twin Cities music fans of the week: Screamales edition

Name: Steven Brunize (left)
Hometown: San Diego, CA
Occupation: Halloween Store Clerk
and
Name: Len W. (right)
Hometown: Excelsior, MN
Occupation: Freelance Illustrator/ Lazer Tag Operator

Why did you come to this show?
Steven: Here for the Screaming Females, he got me into them and brought me to the show. This is my first time seeing them.
Len: I've seen them eight times and every show has been magical.

What's your favorite venue in town?
Steven: The MinneWashta. It's a house venue's backyard music space.

First concert experience?
Steven: My first show was The Casualties around 2006 or so at the Cabooze.
Len: The singer-guitarist whipped a bottle at my head and it was a direct hit. It was about half-empty, so I still got soaked.
Steven: Actually, my first real concert was Aerosmith when I was 14. I used to fall asleep listening to Aerosmith every night growing up, so when my dad brought me to their show I totally fell asleep halfway through. I woke up for "Dream On" though!

What's the worst part of your day job?
Len: When drunks can't play Lazer Tag and hold their liquor at the same time. One year, around Christmas, a guy ran out of the arena and puked all over our Santa's boots. We had to give Santa free Lazer Tag passes for a month.

We gotta ask, what's with the hat?
Steven: It's a Half-Life reference. I'm a big fan of those games all the way back to the first one. I'm always scared someone will come at me with a crowbar when I wear this to shows.

Twin Cities music fans of the week: Screamales edition

Name: Taylor Hall (left)
Hometown: Huntington Beach, CA
Occupation: Whole Foods "Deli Bitch"
and
Name: Jesse Hartwig (right)
Hometown: Minneapolis, MN
Occupation: Pizza Delivery Slave

Why did you come to this show?
Jesse: She introduced me to [Waxahatchee frontwoman Katie Crutchfield's old band] P.S. Eliot, which led me to love Waxahatchee. Also, Screaming Females are awesome.
Taylor: I've loved Screaming Females and Waxahatchee for a while now. I've been a big time Screamales fan since before I moved here.

What's your favorite venue in town?
Taylor: I've only been to two so far, First Ave and the Triple Rock. I'd say I like it here a lot better.

Why the Mickey Mouse getup?
Taylor: I'm from California, so I have this irrational love of Disneyland. I've had passes to go their since I was a little kid. It's also a bit of an ironic comment on pop culture, and a nod to Pop Art.

What's the worst part of your day job?
Taylor: One time, a customer threw turkey back in my face because he didn't believe that it wasn't dark meat. He screamed "DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT TURKEY TASTES LIKE?" at me. We don't actually serve any other kind of turkey than breast meat, but I had to shave it in front of his eyes to prove it.

First Concert Experience?
Jesse: Sorry, we gotta go, Screaming Females are starting RIGHT NOW! [they run off]
