Turf Club to close for summer renovations

First Avenue's purchase of the Turf Club last fall will have its greatest effect to date when the venue closes June 1 to begin renovations. On the list of upgrades: a new kitchen, ventilation, roofing, repairs to the bars, and a fire suppression system. More structural improvements to the 70-year-old building are expected, as well.
According to Star Tribune, the work should keep the club closed until at least the end of July.
In the mean time, many of the usual First Ave.-tied shows that would normally stop at the Turf will be redirected to the Triple Rock Social Club and the Cedar Cultural Center.
The new kitchen will be located in the venue's basement, and will likely see a soft opening prior to a revamped Turf grand reopening in early September.
