Trampled by Turtles play "Alone" on Late Show With David Letterman (VIDEO)
The month of April has been an eventful one for the gents in Trampled by Turtles. Not long after a sold-out release show at First Avenue on a city-wide TBT Day featuring some crowd-surfing with R.T. Rybak, the Duluth-reared local bluegrass-folk stars hopped up to a national audience last night with an appearance on Late Show With David Letterman.
Poised as ever, Dave Simonett and his band launched into an efficient run-through of "Alone," which appears on Stars and Satellites, and would probably sound great at Target Field. Fiddle player Ryan Young even managed to have some bow hairs swinging freely by the finish.
Just in case you were wondering about the identity of the sixth guy on stage, it's cellist Eamonn McLain from Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapelles! When they finished, David Letterman and Paul Shaffer seemed genuinely pleased to have the guys play -- a last-minute replacement for scheduled guest Tom Waits.
