Twin Cities soul and reggae fans are blessed whenever Frederick "Toots" Hibbert brings his party to town. At 65, Toots still delivers his action packed deluge of roots reggae hits from "Sweet and Dandy," "Do the Reggae," "Time Tough," and "Monkey Man," all the while revving up his band and turning it all into pure gospel, the form Toots originally found his voice singing in at church as a teenager.
Off the heals of last year's Flip and Twist and his recent charitable efforts serving his homeland, Jamaica, with his Toots Foundation that helps children with cancer, blindness and the Salvation Army, he will once again will dazzle Twin Cities crowds at the Minnesota Zoo this weekend.
Much like last year's reggae installment of Jimmy Cliff, It couldn't be a more perfect setting for Toots and his crew to delight at the Zoo Amphitheatre.
Here's a track from Toot's latest Flip and Twist and a string of classic Toots to get y'all psyched.
Toots and the Maytals "Fool for You"
The Maytals "This Must be True Love"
