The Wars of 1812 to part ways

The Wars of 1812 to part ways

We received some sad news from the Wars of 1812 today: The promising young band (who placed fourth in last year's Picked to Click poll) have announced that they will break up before the year is done. According to a note sent out by members of the band, they plan to put the finishing touches on their sophomore album and release it before calling it quits. They will also squeeze in a few parting shows, including one at the Cedar with former Minneapolitan JoAnna James.

Here's the Wars of 1812's farewell letter:

It has been over two solid years since we came to the Twin Cities to live and to grow as a band.  You have helped us to fulfill our dreams tenfold and we could not be more grateful for all of your support.  Today we have decided to close this chapter in our lives.  We are currently putting the finishing touches on our second album and are truly excited for you to hear it and will let you know as soon as it is available.

In the meantime, we have a few shows left on the calendar that we hope you'll be able to attend:

The Cabin Concert Series (UW-Eau Claire Campus) *all shows are free and all-ages
Friday, October 9
11:30 am &

Saturday, October 10

The Cedar (Minneapolis, MN) with Chris Koza & Joanna James
Friday, November 6
$11 advance/$13 day of

Thank you for everything.  We love you all.

Mei-Ling, Peter, Bobby, and Kenyon
