The Replacements Midway poster inspired by classic Twins logo
The news crept out last night that the Replacements are playing their first hometown gig in 23 years on September 13. Since the show is at Midway Stadium, home of the St. Paul Saints, it's no surprise that the guys decided upon on some classic baseball imagery to promote the show. Update: And some monster truck imagery for a radio spot. Check 'em out below!

The poster features Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson in the classic pose of the Minneapolis and St. Paul ballplayers shaking hands across the Mississippi. But wait, what's slipping out of Paul's fingers? It's the Twin/Tone master tapes that were supposedly stolen and tossed into the river!

Update: There's alos seriously over-caffeinated radio spot making the rounds today too that makes this show sound like it's gonna be bigger than a monster truck rally. A few sample quotes: "Midway Stadium will EXPLOOOODE!" "We'll sell you the whole seat, but you only need... THE EDGGGE!"

The Replacements. With the Hold Steady and Lucero. Tickets go on sale Saturday, May 3, at 10 a.m. CST for $50 plus ticketing fees at etix.com, the Midway Stadium box office, and the Depot Tavern.
