The Replacements' full band lineup finalized for Riot Fest shows

There was no question that Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson were going to be part of the upcoming Replacements reunion shows to be staged at the three Riot Fests in the coming weeks. However, lead guitar and drums were up for grabs. On Friday, the Star Tribune's Chris Riemenschneider reported that those slots are filled.

The Replacements' full band lineup finalized for Riot Fest shows

The two men for the job have toured with Westerberg in the past. In fact, A Perfect Circle drummer and frequent session man Josh Freese has carved out a successful career plugging holes in legendary bands for years now. He has played alongside Stinson in Guns 'N Roses, and provided some electrifying fills for the relaunch of Devo a few years back. Also, he was behind the kit for the previously unreleased Replacements recordings featured on the 2006 comp Don't You Know Who I Think I Was?.

Boston-based David "The Motor" Minehan will take lead guitar duties. His band, the Neighborhoods, frequently opened for the 'Mats back in the '80s, and he later played in Westerberg's solo band after the Replacements split in the early '90s.

According to Riemenschneider, the lineup was confirmed by Westerberg's manager, Darren Hill, who also used to perform with the Replacements frontman. But no local shows were part of this announcement.

Riot Fest has confirmed the set times for next weekend's performance in Toronto, and the Replacements are the headliners. Impressively, Iggy and the Stooges are slotted to warm up the stage for them.
