A dark lasered room, sweaty nubiles, party photographers, predictable DJ's and self-conscious posturing. If you attend a fair amount of clubs, parties, raves, artist-run psycholofts and on, this picture may be an easy one for you to conjure in your K'd out mind's eye. But are they ever that fun?
The Original Truth Squad throws dance parties too, but ones cut far loose from the standard cloth, a sort of gonzo refraction of the typical motions. Having put on eight different events including the noteworthy Jean Jam (first, second, and soon-to-be third annual) and Winter Booty Bounce and Sweatpants Dance, tonight they come again to First Avenue's newly-christened Record Room for Dad's Night Out, a celebration of all things yachty, comb-overed, and high-waisted. For the Dads:
...come on down and boogie to your favorite Dadrock, Dadstep, Dadwave, Dadbeat, and Dadvant-Garde tunes (and of course, good old Pop Music). Don't worry, we're teaching the Dads Of America about what's "cool" and "relevant" in the music scene this day and age. Help make the Dads feel at home, dress like your mom, dress like your pop, hell, even bring your mom and pop along!
DJ sets/performances by: DADS OF AMERICA, PAPAMESH (GIGAMESH'S DAD), KEN FULLERTON (B READY'S DAD), AND SPECIAL GUEST MUX MOOL (one hometown boy made good)
Live Visuals by: SQUIDADLE (TIME SQUID'S DAD), DR. QUEST (VISIONQUESTS'S DAD)
FIRST AVENUE'S RECORD ROOM, FRIDAY, APRIL 23rd. 18+. $3. 10PM.
