The Guystorm tonight at the Fineline

Hunka hunka burnin' love, x5-- the Guystorm, courtesy of their Myspace page.

The Guystorm are here to have fun. That's the resounding impression expressed by their recorded material on Myspace, and by their smiles-galore on-stage attitudes. The rock and roll five piece has been making a speed climb of the local music community, and tonight's show at the Fineline should be a good excuse to get yourself downtown for a rousing Wednesday show.

The Guystorm does more than just pack 'em in. If you've seen them at the Hexagon or the Turf Club, you know that they channel a certain balls-out energy that tends to get the rows just before the stage moving, dousing themselves with beer, and shouting along.

The act has a distinct whiff of testosterone, sure. But, hey, it's the 21st century. If a bunch of dudes can't get on stage with a few guitars and be righteous, then we all need to spend a little more time with our Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tapes and remember, as Guystorm's performances do, not to take this shit quite so seriously. It's loud and it is good.
