It has now been just about a decade since 89.3 the Current hit the Twin Cities airwaves. To celebrate, the public radio station's yearly birthday festivities are now officially too big for their previous britches.
In past years, the two-night birthday bash at First Avenue has been a fixture each mid-January, but this time it's a 10-day marathon of events. The itinerary, including lineups for both nights in the mainroom, is below.

Thursday, January 15: The Morning Show's doing their Coffee Break segment live with the Ericksons at MPR Forum.
Friday, January 16: Go record shopping with the Current's DJs at the Electric Fetus, and get first dibs on a split 10-inch featuring in-studio performances. The Suicide Commandos, featuring Craig Finn and Tad Kubler of the Hold Steady, and L'Assassins will play that evening at Turf Club for the 10-inch's release show.
Saturday, January 17: Jose James performs at Mayo Civic Center's Presentation Hall in Rochester and Mark Wheat hosts a pre-show happy hour at the Doggery. Meanwhile, in St. Paul, the Walkmen frontman Hamilton Leithauser is at the Turf Club.
Sunday, January 18: There's a tubing event at Theodore Wirth Winter Recreation area with The Current's hosts, and Gabriel Douglas of The 4onthefloor playing in the chalet. In the evening, Dan Wilson, Jeremy Messersmith and Caroline Smith will perform at Bryant Lake Bowl.
Monday, January 19: Billy Idol (yep!), Little Man, and Tropical Depression will play at Turf Club for the live version of Mary Lucia's Rock and Roll Radio program.
Tuesday, January 20: A screening of Purple Rain with Heiruspecs Band, featuring Maurice Jacox, Ashley Dubose, Tickle Torture, and a special guest performing songs from the film at the Fitzgerald Theater.
Wednesday, January 21: Transmission with DJ Jake Rudh and guest DJ Barb Abney at Clubhouse Jäger.
Thursday, January 22: The Current hosts another Public Music Meeting and adds a karaoke sesh with Doomtree at Amsterdam Bar & Hall.
Friday, January 23: Birthday Party Night One at First Avenue features Cold War Kids, Dead Man Winter, Hippo Campus, and Allan Kingdom.
Saturday, January 24: Birthday Party Night Two at First Avenue features Atmosphere, J. Roddy Walston and the Business, the Trashmen, and PaviElle.
