The Current prepping all-local playlist for Saturday
The Current is preparing for a 24-block of all-local music this Saturday, May 15 from midnight to midnight, which they are dubbing "Minnesota Music Day." The station will present three separate specialty shows with all-local programming in addition to inviting hosts Bill DeVille, Mac Wilson, Steve Seel, Jill Riley, Barb Abney, Mary Lucia, and Mark Wheat to take turns spinning their favorite local tunes and taking requests throughout the day.
"One of the things that people constantly say about The Current is that they love the support we give to local music," says program director Jim McGuinn. "So we decided to go all the way and do a whole day of nothing but artists from the Minnesota area."
Special programming includes:
"Teenage Kicks"-- 8-10 a.m.
Former Suicide Commandos front man Chris Osgood will join host Jacquie Fuller and share his take on the scene.
"Radio Free Current" with host David Campbell--8-11 p.m.
Will ask the audience for their picks of best local gems.
"Redefinition Radio" with host Kevin Beacham--11 p.m.-midnight
Will be dedicated to the local hip hop scene.
