Happyness With Danger Ron & the Spins and Nancy's Raygun South London trio Happyness drop by shortly after the U.S. release of their (expanded) debut album, Weird Little Birthday. It's a quirky charmer, with a hazy, often languid vibe tied to arch melodies, punctuated by playful tangents and riddled with wiseass lyrics that teeter from witty to downright sardonic. The band can muster a '90s slacker tone, but there are also veins of psychedelia, Brit Invasion pop, edgy traces of the Velvet Underground and occasional outbursts of grunge. Melancholic musings can have an acoustic guitar pulse or a gentle jauntiness drifting toward surrealism as in "Naked Patients," while whiplash-worthy lyrics like the latter's "There's something so funny about a sick body and the things that it does that it shouldn't do" are cheerfully sprinkled throughout. 7:30 p.m., $10-$12. -- Rick Mason Turf Club

Electric Wizard With Satan's Satyrs Dorset, England's Electric Wizard has stayed at the top of the doom-metal genre for 20 years by reliably delivering an impenetrably heavy sound that makes their cohorts sound miniscule by comparison. The group is led by Jus Oborn's snarly vocals and fierce guitar playing, giving their lengthy songs an ominous tone that the band truly unleashes in a live setting. Their most recent album, last year's Time to Die, is impressive in its commitment to finding a colossal groove and staying there (with room for eerie clips of a 20/20 episode about Ricky Kasso, the Long Island teen who carried out an allegedly satanic murder in 1984). Oborn's vocals feel purposefully swallowed into the mix and the riffs are particularly connected, making for a 65-minute voyage that's slow to reveal its peaks only because every contour is so finely sculpted. 7:30 p.m., $20-$25. -- Michael Madden Mill City Nights
