Damien Rice Indie folk troubadour Damien Rice can be absolutely crushing to listen to. Rice's anguished voice is most recognizable from his 2002 breakthrough single "Cannonball," but the Irish singer returned from an 8-year sojourn last November to release My Favourite Faded Fantasy, an album that captures Rice at his most heartbreakingly solemn. His latest radio hit, "I Don't Want to Change You," has been a backburner favorite over at the Current, but now the erstwhile Juniper frontman comes to Minneapolis' historic Northrop Auditorium to wail his forlorn love songs into the orchestra seats. Pack tissues and bask in his musical tales of heartbreak and woe.7 p.m., $45-$55. -- Jerard Fagerberg Northrop

Mastodon and Clutch With Big Business Mastodon are American heavy metal legends. So are Maryland's Clutch, in their own right. So it makes perfect sense that these two stoner rock groups have joined up for the Missing Link Tour, which kicks off this Wednesday at Myth. Mastodon are renowned for their intricate songwriting (their sophomore LP is a concept album about Moby Dick) and punishing fretwork, garnering the band their first Grammy nod in 2007. Their 2014 record Once More 'Round the Sun earned the Kerrang! darlings their second Grammy nom for lead single "High Road." Clutch are at work on a follow-up to 2013's acclaimed Earth Rocker, which was re-released as a three-disc CD/DVD set last summer, so expect them to debut some new tunes. All ages., 7 p.m., $29.50-$32. -- Jerard Fagerberg Myth
