The House Of Dosh Local electronic multi-instrumentalist Martin Dosh is bringing his loves of improvisation and collaboration to the Turf Club every Tuesday in January, hosting a month-long residency/recording session with 20 of his closest musician pals. Dosh promises these shows will be "largely improvised," which isn't surprising from a guy whose most recent effort, 2013's Milk Money, features a 25-minute piece commissioned by the Walker Art Center. Only Dosh knows what will come of the recordings from this one-of-a-kind residency, but it's clear there's only one place for his fans to be the next few Tuesday nights. 8 p.m., $6-$8. -- Alex Rice Turf Club

A Celebration of Tom Hallett a.k.a. Tommy Gunn The late, great Tommy Hallett was a true rock journalist and character, cut from the same cloth as legends like Lester Bangs or Legs McNeil. His spirited writing and personality loom large over St. Paul's underground rock community. After his untimely passing in 2014, Hallett's friends and colleagues rallied together, and the ensuing conversations brought about a tribute show in the writer's honor. The lineup contains a who's who of pigs-eye punk stalwarts, all affiliated with the SPMC, or Saint Paul Music Club, such as Mammy Nuns, Frances Gumm, Ol' Yeller, and Martin Devaney. One couldn't imagine a better location for the show, as Midway was one of Hallett's eternal haunts, and his work in the SPMC helped turn the Turf from a Podunk cowboy bar into the glorious bastion of rock'n'roll it is today. 8 p.m., $5. -- Zach McCormick Turf Club
