The Twin Cities Hip Hop Awards does not offer fancy gold statues or hoards of hassling paparazzi, but the ceremony can boast its amazing line-up of local talent and a night of bonding for all hip hop's lovers and friends. This Saturday the TC Hip Hop Awards celebrates its third anniversary of giving the best of the best their rightful titles, as well as showcasing a unique mix of genres all on one stage. Expect performances from Knonam, St Paul Slim, BDF, Just.Live, Omaur Bliss, and a handful of others.
TC Hip How Awards founder and continuing organizer, Depth, answered a few questions about the event:
Why hold the TC Hip Hop Awards?
Depth: There are so many good artists out here but the scene is divided between all the different sounds. So this is a night for meeting people, putting faces to names, collaborating. This night gives us a chance to build the scene as a whole. All of us artists working together can help build the city.
Why did you choose the Micranots for the TC Legends Award?
Depth: This is only the second year we've given out this award. We give it to groups or individuals who have helped build up the local hip hop scene. Influential groups who people look up to. The Micranots were one of the first crews doing big shows, one of the originators in the Twin Cities. Before Atmosphere it was the Micranots.
