Steve Martin at the State: the time is nigh

If you snoozed on buying tickets to see Steve Martin this Sunday with the Muppets Jug Band at the State Theatre, I'm sorry to report the show is, for the time being, sold out.

Kidding. His real band features backup band the Steep Canyon Rangers, with openers the Punch Brothers, all men made of skin and bones, muscle and blood.

But if you still long to join the masses of Twin Citians curious as to whether Martin will offer bluegrass with a kick (and perhaps an arrow through the head), or are one of the fans who already know how (to quote City Pages reader "Harlan") "by golly jumpin woofbarks...good!!!" Martin's pickin' skills are, it may not be too late.

The State tells us limited availability tickets will be available on the day of the show ($35-65), so put the fast part to "Dueling Banjos" in your mind and hustle on down to the theater Sunday before the show (which starts at 7:00).

Think Martin's joking with this banjo-pickin' steez? Check out a few of the Grammy-winner's videos and read our concert preview here.

We'll also have a review of the show.

And for anyone who's ever argued with me when I've said Steve Martin is sexy, I present to you Sexy Steve Martin, Replete with Banjo and Turquoise.
