St. Vincent cancels Friday Wits appearance, Steven Page fills in

David Byrne and St. Vincent to launch U.S. tour in Minneapolis

Due to an "international travel schedule," St. Vincent has canceled her performance Friday at the Fitzgerald Theater as part of the Wits series.

Earlier today, it was announced that the artist (real name: Annie Clark) would be making yet another Twin Cities visit this fall on the first date of her joint tour with David Byrne. But now, it looks like we're down to only two visits this year.
From MPR:

Unfortunately St. Vincent's international travel schedule hit complications and she isn't able to make the trip to St. Paul. She apologizes for any and all inconveniences this causes, and hopes to be back in the future.

Well, we know she'll be back September 15 at the State Theatre.

In any case, Friday's show will now feature Steven Page, former lead singer of the Barenaked Ladies, and Soul Asylum's Dave Pirner -- who is in town for the Kill Kancer benefit at the Cedar -- will play a song, as well. The night will be filled out by Bobcat Goldthwait, host John Moe and music director John Munson.

Show is at 8 p.m. at the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul. Tickets available at the MPR box office at 651-290-1200 for $32 ($30 for MPR members). Box office hours: Tuesday-Friday, Noon-5 pm.

Refunds are available before 8 p.m. on Friday, June 15 by calling the MPR box office.
