Smashing Pumpkins add U.S. tour dates -- St. Paul in October
The Smashing Pumpkins in 2012 is essentially Billy Corgan and a bunch of people you've never heard of. And so when the band hits the road this fall, you will hear his voice, and his raging guitar, and three people who get photos and little else in the "Band" section on the group's site will join him.
This isn't really a problem if you close your eyes -- considering that guitarist Jeff Schroeder, bassist Nicole Fiorentino, and drummer Mike Byrne are all stellar musicians. And for anyone who just wants to relive a good bit of the sound SP glory days, and have followed the band up through this year's Oceania, this is where the natural progression sits. For locals, this means a date -- the first here in five years -- in St. Paul at Roy Wilkins Auditorium. Check out all the shows below.
"It was about finding this kind of balance between the songs you would hope we would play, some deeper cuts, but can it flow like a narrative in a way," Corgan says in this tour announcement below. "The deeper cuts and the songs we're known for flow out of Oceania and tell a bigger story." Anyhow, if you're used to him, this is who he is.
