Sims' new solo album is Field Notes
The rest of 2014 is shaping up to be dominated by the Doomtree crew. In addition to the rap collective's highly anticipated new album, the behind-the-scenes coffee-table book coming this month, and tour dates for most of the group -- culminating in the annual wintertime Doomtree Blowout extravaganza -- Sims is putting out a new solo record of his own. Field Notes will arrive September 2 via Doomtree Records.
Its first single, "Uh Huh," features Sims rapping over Cecil Otter's beats. Give a listen below.
Tickets are still currently available for the AstroSims show at First Avenue on August 23. This will be the first opportunity for fans to hear many of these Field Notes songs live. The night will feature a collaborative set between Astronautalis and Sims, along with performances from their just-announced special guests Mike Mictlan (who has a solo record of his own, Hella Frreal, coming out in the near future), Metasota and Zero.
Sims is also offering up a lot of cool stuff with any pre-orders of Field Notes, with perks like instant downloads of "Uh Huh," along with a digipak CD of the new 7-song collection, access to a private Livestream of the record where you'll be able to interact directly with Sims and other Doomtree fans, as well as a limited edition T-shirt created specifically for this release.
Following his performance with Astronautalis, Sims will hit the road for a lengthy North American tour in support of Field Notes along with the Australian hip-hop trio, Hilltop Hoods.
