Semisonic reuniting Saturday night in Mound
The boys are back in Mound again, at least for a night. Star Tribune's Chris Riemenschneider is reporting that the celebrated local trio Semisonic are playing a rare reunion gig on Saturday, May 19 as part of the Blast Block Party in Mound. Bassist John Munson is the only member of the group who has remained in Minneapolis, with drummer Jacob Slichter decamping to New York a while back, while singer Dan Wilson has famously been busy winning Grammys out in L.A., all of which has prevented the group from playing together all that regularly over the last few years.
But all of that will change on Saturday night in Mound, as the group will reunite and be part of a bill that will also see Munson doing double-duty with openers the Twilight Hours, the band he formed with Dan's brother Matt Wilson, who also played with Dan and John in Trip Shakespeare.
So, the Blast Block Party will clearly have a bit of an old-home-week feel and sound to it, which will certainly be music to the ears of many longtime Twin Cities music fans.
Advance tickets to the Blast Block Party (which will also feature a performance by the Minneapolis quartet the Days Between) are $25, while they will cost $35 the day of the show. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to benefit Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School in Mound.
The 18+ event will be held outside on the grounds of the Catholic school alongside Langdon Lake, rain or shine. This promises to be an evening filled with truly special performances that more than likely won't occur again anytime soon. So get your tickets quick, and find your way out to Mound on Saturday night.
Here's the Blast Block Party schedule and set times for the night:
6:00 -- Gates Open
6:30 -- the Days Between
8:15 -- the Twilight Hours
10:00 -- Semisonic
