Sammy Davis Jr.'s left eye-- a remembrance

It was on this fateful day in 1959, on a treacherous fork on that oh-so-celebrated Highway 66, that tap dancer extraordinaire and supper club impressionist's wet dream Sammy Davis Jr. was in a car accident that would dislodge his left eyeball from its socket and necessitate the invention of glass for the purposes of a replacement eyeball. Like most eyeball dislodgings, Mr. Jr's dislodging prompted a conversion to Judaism and an endorsement of Republican presidential nominee Richard Nixon.

Here, in honor of that brave eyeball, is a scene from Taps, a movie about tap dancing starring Mr. Jr. himself.
