Rosie Flores to play Lee's tonight
With a quarter-century performing true rockabilly-style country under her belt, Rosie Flores is about as legit as they come, and tonight she'll be appearing at Lee's Liquor Lounge (9:00, $8).
Born in San Antonio in 1950 and currently residing in Austin, Texas, Flores' take on the country genre seamlessly blends a Tex-Mex honky tonk swing vibe with the chunky drive of rockabilly (that's rock, you 'billies, not just a greasy hairstyle and some wingtip shoes). Rumor has it she's ventured north to work on her new album, and her show tonight will be kicked off with performances by local rockabilly band the Reckless Ones at nine (who were profiled by Ian Power-Luetscher back in October), and Adam Lee & the Dead Horse Sound Co., a classic country band out of Kansas City, at ten.
