Most bands have a hard enough time getting their own allotment of specific beers secured for them at each gig. But Rogue Valley not only got to choose what type of beer is available for their show at the Aster Cafe tonight, they got to partner directly with northeast Minneapolis's NorthGate Brewing to help craft their Chocolate Cherry Porter. The dark, velvety porter will be flowing freely from the taps tonight, right along with the sweet sounds of the band.
The show is part of Stillwater-based Tuned Beer's ongoing series of pairing a local band with an area brewery to create limited-release brews that match well with the distinctive tastes of everyone involved.
The partnership does a unique job of promoting both the bands and the breweries, with free downloads for each group available with a code found on the bottle cap. For Rogue Valley, the free download was for their soaring False Floors anthem "Onward and Over."
Past partnerships have featured the Reckless Ones teaming up with Lift Bridge Brewery for an American Brown Ale, and Communist Daughter working with 612Brew to craft a Galaxy IPA.
Tonight at Aster, NorthGate will be taking over the taps, with plenty of their rich, luxuriant Chocolate Cherry Porter on offer, while Rogue Valley will handle the tunes in the intimate surroundings of the quaint cafe in the heart of St. Anthony Main.
Doors for this 21+ event open at 8 p.m., with music starting at 9. Aster's full, delectable menu will be offereed throughout the night, but for those interested in table service, reservations are recommended in addition to purchasing a ticket, which are $11 in advance and $13 at the door.
So, come on down to the Aster Cafe tonight and see just how well NorthGate's creamy, flavorful Chocolate Cherry Porter pairs with the poignant, evocative sounds of Rogue Valley.
