Prince and Jennifer Hudson perform "Nothing Compares 2 U"

Apologies. Anything awesome that shows up on YouTube involving Prince tends to get the axe pretty quick, so enjoy this one while it's still available. One of the finest songs the Purple One ever wrote that got popular via another artist -- in this case, Sinead O'Connor -- got a regal treatment last night at Chicago's United Center as part of the second night of his Welcome 2 Chicago series.

Weight Watchers pitchwoman and Dreamgirls star Jennifer Hudson showed why Prince chose her voice for this rendition of "Nothing Compares 2 U." Because it works.

If you've heard the smokin' version of the track that shows up on Prince's 1993 compilations The Hits/The B-Sides and The Hits 1, you'll get a sense of what this one's about. Sort of. Instead of a Rosie Gaines as the female lead, we get a "Jenny," who is definitely taller in heels than our gifted frontman.
