Northern Spark 2014: Music events lineup


The extensive Northern Spark 2014 schedule is now live! The all-night arts festival hits Minneapolis on Saturday, June 14 (and the wee hours of Sunday, June 15). This year, there are a ton of area musicians taking part in the festivities.

Dosh, GRRRL PRTY, Greycoats, Chris Koza, Brute Heart, Anonymous Choir, Holly Hansen, and the Minnesota Orchestra are among those contributing to the artistic tapestry of the evening. Below, we have highlighted the music-related events from the weekend.

7 p.m. to 9 p.m.: Dosh performs at the Northern Spark Launch Party at Orchestra Hall

8:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.: GRRRL PRTY and Mu Daiko perform at Opening Ceremony: Creative City Challenge Launch and Concert at Convention Center Plaza

9:30 p.m. to 2 a.m., every half hour: Greycoats will perform projection-mapped debut of new songs for "Per Aspera Ad Astra" at Le Meridian Chambers

9:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.: Dakota Combo will perform at MacPhail Center for Music

10 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.: Minnesota Orchestra will perform "Symphony No. 4: From Mission San Juan" at Orchestra Hall

9:01 p.m. to 12 a.m.: Emily Johnson/Catalyst and Anonymous Choir perform at Mill City Museum

9:01 p.m. to 12 a.m.: Sumunar Gamelan Ensemble perform at Northrop Memorial Hall

Hourly, on the Hour: Holly Hansen will perform "The Weight of Church Bells" at Basilica of St. Mary

9:01 p.m. to 5:26 a.m.: Sacred Heart Singers will perform at Weisman Art Museum

9:01 p.m. to 5:26 a.m.: Chris Campbell, Michael Croswell, and Grant Cutler will perform "Field Frequency" at W. River Parkway

9:01 p.m. to 5:26 a.m.: Various artists will perform at the Northern Spark Coffee Garden on the Greenway' Busker Stage at Peace Coffee Roastery and Headquarters

9:01 p.m. to 5:26 a.m.: Chris Koza will perform "Transient Melody" at Walker Art Center

9:01 p.m. to 5:26 a.m.: Various artists will perform at Local Music on Loring at HiFi Hair and Records

9:01 p.m. to 5:26 a.m.: Erik Satie (interpreted by nine pianists), Sophie Erlund, and Charles Stankievech, "Vexations" / "A long, long, long night (and day) at the piano" at Northrop Auditorium

9:01 p.m. to 5:26 a.m.: SuperGroup, Brute Heart, Rachel Jendrzejewski, and Liz Miller perform an all-night spontaneous piece "Circumstances for We" at Northrop Plaza

9:01 p.m. to 5:26 a.m.: Benjamin Kelly, Adam Conrad, and Jamie Johnson perform as part of interactive music installation Gossip Orchestra at Weisman Art Museum

9:01 p.m. to 5:26 a.m.: Roger Nieboer and lesser mortals teach you your song as part of "Folkalopolis" at W. River Parkway

9:01 p.m. to 5:26 a.m.: Christopher Williams and Andrew Foreman will perform Terry Riley's minimalist piece "In C" at W. River Parkway
