Night Moves share "Country Queen," announce Colored Emotions release show

Local retro-rockers Night Moves have kept the Twin City music community (and the rest of the world) waiting patiently for their Domino Records release of their debut album, Colored Emotions. Esteemed producer Thom Monahan (Beachwood Sparks, Devandra Banhart, Vetiver) has joined with the band in mixing the record, which finally sees the light of day on October 9.
Night Moves have just announced a string of U.S. tour dates with the L.A. indie-folk band Lord Huron in support of the new album, which includes a local Record Release Party at the 7th St. Entry on October 16. They also have shared a new song "Country Queen," a rollicking, spacey track taken from Colored Emotions. The song features a nice, Jeff Buckley-esque breakdown a minute-and-a-half in, which finds frontman John Pelant's vocals soaring over the songs expansive rhythm and melody.
The group has a high-profile gig opening for Dirty Projectors at Madison's stately Majestic Theatre before they launch their headlining tour, which will bring them to most of the major musical hotbeds in the United States throughout a busy month of October.
Everything seems to be in place for Night Moves to break it big in the later part of 2012. With a solid batch of songs to work with, as well as an accomplished producer helping the band find the perfect final mix for the album, it seems that we might just have another musical success story here in Minneapolis.
