New Doomtree record, 'No Kings,' coming in November

With all of social media abuzz about Kanye West and Jay-Z's new record, Watch the Throne, which finds the pair kicking back and flaunting their reign over the hip-hop world, it seems like the perfect time to learn that one of the Twin Cities' most commanding crews, Doomtree, is preparing their own new release -- and the title of the record suggests a direct response to the mainstream kingpins' ruling patriarchy.
Doomtree MC Dessa Darling confirmed as much last night when she sent us a missive from her recording booth (her closet), indicating that the crew is just putting the finishing touches on the vocal tracks now. The members of the crew had been tweeting the phrase "No Kings" all summer long (search for #nokings
on Twitter), so it makes sense that those are the words they landed on to describe their latest release.
