Attention Current listeners and Mumford and Sons aficionados: We've got what amounts to a bit of ear porn for you this morning.
Our beloved Mumfy went on the BBC's Radio One yesterday, where they played a seven-song set, composed of songs from Sigh No More and their recently released sophomore album Babel, along with one very special cover of Alt-J's "Tessellate."
Frontman Marcus Mumford does a really excellent job of capturing the tenuous emotional theme of the song in his voice, particularly in the third verse, around 1:50. This is a quiet song, sans typical, explosive Mumfordian crescendo, and it's still successfully gorgeous. Can the British quartet really do no wrong?
We can't decide which one we like better... the Mumford version or the original, by Alt-J:
