From bands, fans, and venues -- no one likes a concert cancellation. Unfortunately, Minneapolis received two such notifications over the weekend, beginning with the announcement that Morrissey's show at the Orhpheum Theatre on Friday, March 22 (which was already rescheduled twice after earlier postponements) has been canceled, along with the rest of his U.S. tour, due to medical reasons.

And, in addition to that unwelcome bit of news, reports surfaced earlier today that Animal Collective's sold-out show at First Avenue on Monday night has been postponed due Avey Tare's "intense case of strep throat." That show, as well as the rest of Animal Collective's current leg of their U.S. tour, will be rescheduled at a later date.

According to a press release from Morrissey's camp, all 22 remaining dates on his tour, including Friday's scheduled show at the Orpheum Theatre, have been canceled for good this time, with fans urged to get refunds at the point of purchase:

"The remaining dates of the Morrissey U.S. North American tour have officially been pulled down due to medical reasons. The singer has suffered a series of medical mishaps over the past few months including a bleeding ulcer, Barrett's esophagus and double pneumonia.

Despite his best efforts to try to continue touring, Morrissey has to take a hiatus and will not be able to continue on the rest of the tour. Morrissey thanks all of his fans for their well wishes and thoughts. Refunds for the remaining shows are available at point of purchase."

While things in Animal Collective land don't appear to be nearly as dire, the experimental psych-pop band has also postponed all of their planned dates on the current leg of their U.S. tour, including Monday night's highly anticipated, sold-out show at First Avenue with Dan Deacon. There are plans to reschedule the postponed shows "as soon as possible," but at this point, any make-up dates have yet to be announced.

Avey Tare posted this message to his fans on Animal Collective's Facebook page earlier today:

"To all of the AC fans out there. I feel its best you hear it right from the horses mouth. It kills me to have to postpone all these shows and it's something I could never even have imagined happening. I'm positive that we were as excited as you all to visit all of your towns and have a good time together. But because of the strain on my voice that's being caused by an intense case of strep throat, I am unable to play any of these shows. Unfortunately, I wasn't diagnosed soon enough and haven't been able to kick this in the right amount of time. We promise you all that we are doing everything we can to reschedule all these shows asap and we will be visiting your cities. We hope you can all understand and sympathize with the situation. It's been really fun for all of us to be playing these days and the energy you all give us makes us want to take it further and further with you and give it right back. Hopefully, we can continue to do this together soon. Until then. Stay Well."

We'll be sure to let you know as soon as we hear of Animal Collective's rescheduled Minneapolis date.
