The increasingly popular Minnesota Public Radio show Wits has just announced that they will be putting on their first ever fall season of the highly enjoyable comedy-music-conversation program. The well-liked events pair an eclectic mix of talented comedians, actors and musicians along with host John Moe and musical director John Munson for a night of spontaneous and engaging discussion, performance, and decidedly humorous entertainment, all in the lovely confines of the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul.
This fall's schedule of guests features yet another strong batch of entertainers of all stripes, with musicians Mike Doughty, Martha Wainwright, Brandi Carlile, and Lissie joining Dave Foley, Julia Sweeney, Maria Bamford, and Henry Rollins for what should be a series of absorbing, amusing evenings.
As in the past, Current DJ Barb Abney will provide tunes for the pre-show Tweetup beginning at 7 p.m., where drinks are half-price and social media friends can gather to talk excitedly about the night's upcoming festivities. All shows will then start at 8 p.m.
Season ticket packages for MPR members and previous Wits ticket holders go on-sale on Tuesday, October 2 at noon, with packages starting at $119 for general admission tickets and $159 for VIP reserved seating. Season ticket packages go on-sale to the general public on Friday, October 5 at noon.
Single tickets for Wits go on-sale starting at noon on Tuesday, October 9. General admission single tickets are $32, while VIP reserved seating tickets cost $42. All tickets can be purchased through the Fitzgerald Theater box office in person Tuesday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m., by phone at 651.290.1200, or online at fitzgeraldtheater.org.
