Looking to practice your inside and outside edges? Itching to use the hockey gear that's been sitting in your garage all summer? Do you actually know what broomball is and have an unstoppable strategy? You're in luck--thanks to recent freezing weather, a rink near you may be opening up tomorrow.
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation board is planning on opening many of their 23 rinks around town starting Saturday, December 13. The 23 locations, which feature 48 separate rinks, are friendly for practicing skating, pond hockey, hockey, and broomball. Many of the rinks have warming houses as well, so if you're freezing you can take a break.
Weather permitting, rinks established as skatable for the year will be open through February 16. For more information on rinks open around town, call the hotline at 612.313.7708 or visit the MPRB site here for a list of locations and numbers.
