Micheal 'Eyedea' Larsen's public wake, memorial show announced

As the music community continues to grieve the devastating loss of Micheal Larsen, a.k.a. Eyedea, a series of memorial events are being planned in his honor. Today, Rhymesayers announced that a public wake will be held next Thursday, October 28 at the Crowne Plaza in St. Paul, and First Avenue will host a celebration of his life on what would have been his 29th birthday, Tuesday, November 9.

Additionally, this weekend two radio stations are planning tribute shows: at 9 p.m. tomorrow night, KFAI's RSE Radio (90.3FM in Minneapolis, 106.7FM in St. Paul) will devote a two-hour block to playing music and interviewing guests about Eyedea, and at 11 p.m. Kevin Beacham will present a special hour-long tribute on the Current's Redefinition Radio (89.3FM).

Along with the announcements, Rhymesayers has posted a series of quotes from some of Eyedea's closest friends and musical collaborators, including his longtime bandmate DJ Abilities, Slug, Brother Ali and more. (You can read our collection of memories from friends and fans here.)
