Michael Jackson dead at 50
It's been a sad day filled with unbelievable news. This morning we learned that Farrah Fawcett passed away after a three-year battle with cancer, and this afternoon, amidst a flurry of speculation, we learned that Michael Jackson was in a coma at the UCLA Medical Center after suffering from cardiac arrest at his Bel-Air mansion. As of 5:30 p.m. Thursday night, reports from CNN, CBS, and the LA Times have confirmed that Jackson has died.
Celebrity gossip site TMZ was the first to report Jackson's cardiac arrest and Jackson's death, citing sources close to the family.
The LA Times confirmed TMZ's story, citing City and LAPD sources: "Pop star Michael Jackson was pronounced dead by doctors this afternoon after arriving at a hospital in a deep coma, city and law enforcement sources told The Times."
The LAPD has opened an investigation into Jackson's death, although they stressed there is no evidence at this time of wrongdoing.
Jackson leaves behind two sons, Prince Michael 7, and Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., 12, and daughter Paris Michael Katherine, 11.
RIP Michael, you will be missed.
