Michael Gaughan's Eyedea portrait now available as a poster, enter here to win
As part of our annual "Year in Music" issue last December, we commissioned local artist and musician Michael Gaughan to create a watercolor portrait of Micheal Larsen, a.k.a. Eyedea, for the cover of City Pages. The result was astounding -- Gaughan produced an emotional, moving tribute to his fallen friend, and it resonated profoundly with many of our readers.
Recently, we had Gaughan's City Pages cover made into a printed poster and collaborated with the artist to have a limited run of 50 copies of the print autographed and hand-numbered.
Now, it's time to get these prints out to our readers.
Over the next few weeks, we're going to be giving away copies of these prints right here on Gimme Noise. To enter the giveaway, leave your favorite Eyedea lyric in the comments section of this post. We will randomly draw the first round of winners this Friday at 5 p.m.
For more on these historic prints, check out the interview we conducted with Gaughan while he signed the posters; he discusses his relationship with Micheal Larsen, the process for creating the watercolor painting, and how making the cover for City Pages became part of his grieving process.
