After the overwhelming success of Dessa's intimate show at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts back in February, the talented songstress is now set to bring her entire boisterous Doomtree crew to perform at the MIA's Summer Party on Saturday, June 1.
On an evening where the venerable art museum will be celebrating the Minneapolis music scene, they have also tapped the legendary Morris Day and the Time for a rare live performance at the outdoor event, ensuring that both the classic and modern sounds of the local scene are going to be well represented.
The MIA's Summer Party is set to take place outside in their lovely Target Park from 8:30 p.m. until midnight, with guests asked to dress in cocktail attire for the occasion.
Tickets for the event are $85 per person (with $35 tax deductible), which includes appetizers, a complimentary drink ticket, admittance to the live performance, as well as two VIP tickets to the MIA's current exhibition, 'More Real? Art in the Age of Truthiness.'
There are also VIP tickets and packages available as well, which includes complimentary valet parking as well as access to a private hosted bar. You can purchase tickets online, or by calling the event hotline at 612.870.6323.
Not only will you be supporting one of the landmark arts and cultural venues in town, but the chance to see both Doomtree and Morris Day and the Time sharing the same bill is a rare one, indeed -- and just may never happen again. The potential for some memorable musical collaborations between the two crews is quite tempting to think about (how awesome would it be to see P.O.S. doing "The Bird"?!), but just seeing the two celebrated local acts share a stage together should be worth the price of admittance alone.
In addition to the Summer Party, the formal MIA Gala is also taking place on the same night, with a black-tie dinner held in the Reception Hall, a live auction, and more, with guests also able to take part in the Summer Party festivities as well.
June 1 should be a wonderful night all around the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, as area patrons get to celebrate and support the MIA, while also taking in some great music under the Minneapolis summer sky.
