Mason Jennings treats Current fans to intimate performance
Yesterday afternoon, a small group of ticket-winners were treated to a live performance and interview taping with Mason Jennings at 89.3 the Current's lush USB Forum. We jumped at the chance to attend the taping because, simply put, we think that the songs on Mason's new album, Blood of Man (which comes out next Tuesday), are some of his best in years. He recently started writing songs with an electric guitar as opposed to an acoustic, and its lent a rougher edge to his otherwise straight-laced folk sound.
We'll have a full review of the new album and an interview with Mason in our September 23 issue, but for now head over to his MySpace page to sample some of his new songs, watch a video from the in-studio performance, and check out these great photos from yesterday by Steve Cohen.
Mason Jennings' in-studio performance and interview with hosts Jill Riley and Steve Seel will air next Tuesday, September 15 at 8:30 a.m. He will also appear on an episode of the Current's "Theft of the Dial" on Tuesday, September 22 with Mark Wheat.
