Mark Olson stops by the Varsity this Sunday
Former Jayhawks frontman turned Creekdipper and solo artist Mark Olson will return to town this weekend to play the Varsity Theater as part of their "Quiet, Please" series. As with past "Quiet, Please" events, Olson will perform toward the middle of the room to a small, seated audience, giving attendees a chance to get up close and personal with the former Minneapolitan as he performs songs from his new album,Many Colored Kite
"Many Colored Kite instantly feels more pop, its default guitar style Byrdsian curlicue rather than twang," Pete Scholtes writes in his City Pages review of the new album. "Olson sounds less like he's trying to convince himself that the world is good and salvageable and more like he's sharing the news."
