Marathon hootenanny planned for Sunday at Kings

It's hard to believe that it's already been a year since Kings Wine Bar opened in the Kingfield neighborhood in Minneapolis, but time flies when you're busy serving up delicious handmade tater tots and hosting low-key listening parties and DJ nights that emphasize great local music. In honor of the one-year anniversary, Kings employee, music writer, and performer Jim Walsh, a.k.a. the Mad Ripple, is organizing what will likely be his biggest hootenanny yet.

Dubbed the "Kings Birthday Marathon Mad Ripple Hootenanny," Walsh has invited over 50 musicians to take turns playing songs in a tent outside of the wine bar this Sunday, August 15. Below is the rough schedule of performers who are scheduled to play -- but if you've ever been to a hoot, you'll know that additions and collaborations aren't just likely, they're guaranteed.

"It looks like a massive clusterbleep, but I swear it can work," writes Walsh. "The spirit of the hoot is great songs fleshed out by new one-time only band(s) formed for the moment."
