Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapelles go bowling with City Pages

We sent writer Jeff Gage out on a fun assignment this week, tagging along with seven-piece band Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapelles for an excursion at the Bryant-Lake Bowl. It'd been two years since we'd caught up with Michelle and her gang -- they hadn't been profiled since they won our Picked to Click poll in 2008 -- so it was a good opportunity to re-acquaint ourselves with the folk troupe.
Read the full article about Jeff's bowling adventure with LM&TVL in this week's print edition of City Pages (and online here), and for photos from the band's hangout session check out our slideshow by Tony Nelson.
Also in this week's print edition: Ray Cummings' column 5ingles: The Songs We Can't Escape, and our weekly roundup of recommended shows, a.k.a. our Critics' Picks section, featuring previews of the Hold Steady, Tina and the B-Sides, Mark Mallman's New Year's Eve show, and more.
