What's the matter, Weezy? Superstar rapper Lil Wayne reportedly walked away from a scheduled performance Sunday at downtown Minneapolis club the Venue. Wayne's "entourage" refused to undergo standard safety procedures (pat-down, metal detector, ID check), according to a statement released late Monday by the confusingly named Venue. The statement claims the Grammy-winning MC was inside the club and ready to perform, but pulled out when members of his crew were denied entry.
The Venue says it is in the process of issuing refunds for the $100 tickets. Hopefully Wayne has better luck tonight in Milwaukee.
In January, Lil Wayne sued Cash Money Records for $51 million, claiming the label owes him millions and that CEO Bryan "Birdman" Williams, his former mentor, is further delaying the release of his long-delayed album The Carter V. Weezy dropped his Sorry 4 the Wait 2 mixtape earlier this year to tide over fans.
Calls to the Venue were not immediately returned. You can read the full statement here.
