Lady Gaga lovers: The 10 best Little Monsters' costumes
All photos by Tony Nelson
Artpop diva Lady Gaga just rolled into St. Paul, and she brought the Little Monsters out in droves. Her fans dressed to the nines and beyond -- handcrafting some eye-popping looks to flaunt at the concert and the pre-party. Here are just a few of our favorite outfits from the style-filled evening.
Best use of minimal gold lamé
Hellooooo, studs. No, really, those studded, chain-filled epaulets are divine -- and let's not forget about that mask. Just the right amount of edgy to go with a whole lot of sass and perfectly coiffed hair.
Best spring-inspired outfit
Forget florals, actual flowers are the best spring trend. Getting decked out in shoulder-to-toe flowers risks looking like you stepped out of a flowerbed, but this look is a garden of earthly delights. Props for keeping everything else simple and chic -- let that flora speak for itself.
It takes an individual with the poise of an etiquette school teacher and the confidence of Lady Gaga herself to pull off a massive mask like this, and by jove it's happening. The fishnets, mesh, leather and swipe of jet-black lipstick finish off this look with noir sophistication. Plus, look at the shadow that mask casts -- incredible.
Best facial jewelry
Keepin' it simple in black is the way to go when you've got some major bling on your face, and these folks rock those monumental jewels and chains with an air of sweet sophistication.
Best use of tentacles
Taking inspiration from one of Gaga's current tour looks -- the one with the pink-polka-dotted gray tentacles coming off of her person every which way -- this outfit is straight up from under the sea, and that's a good thing.
Best hair and fringe
Lady Godiva, is that you? These fans have brought their a-game -- there's nothing subtle about these looks. This is just the place to flaunt that hair skirt with a braided bra and shoulder pads... not to mention that mermaid-inspired bustier with golden locks even Barbie would be jealous of. Also, those platform boots are amazing.
Best architectural looks
You could probably put someone's eye out with those shoulders, but this is the perfect time to go big or go home. Plus, ultra-power shoulders are way badass. Speaking of -- taking neon leopard print up another notch with a bunch of multicolored structures attached to a hooped skirt? Yeah, that's badass.
Best use of simplicity
Who says you need to obscure your face when you're in a mask? These fans have channeled Gaga at her simplest in this modified ski-mask/visor, and they look fine.
Best timely outfit
Remember when Gaga dressed up as Princess High the Cannabis Queen for Halloween? This fan does. Tulle, well-placed weed leaves, and some sparkly green eye makeup made for And those green go-go boots? Heck yes.
Best sense of dedication
Wearing Lady Gaga's famous red lace crown outfit from the 2009 VMAs takes some serious dedication -- not only because you've got a foot-long crown on, but also because you've got lace obscuring your vision. But damn if it doesn't look pretty cool.
