Justin Vernon and Megafaun reuniting as DeYarmond Edison at SXSW
A handful of Eau Claire natives are making headlines today because of a reunion show that might possibly blow minds this year at SXSW. Justin Vernon -- who famously retreated into a cabin in the Wisconsin woods to recover from a breakup with his girlfriend and his band and came out with a breathtaking album -- will reform said band, DeYarmond Edison, at this year's festival to perform a set at the Fader Fort.
Of course, Vernon and his DeYarmond bandmates haven't strayed too far from one another in recent years; all four DeYarmond members (Vernon, Brad Cook, Phil Cook, and Joe Westerlund) are part of the core touring lineup of Gayngs, and Vernon's Bon Iver has always been friendly and supportive of his former bandmates' new project, Megafaun.
DeYarmond Edison will perform on Saturday, March 19 at 8 p.m. at the Fader Fort. RSVP here.
One has to wonder if Vernon will scoot over to the VEVO Power Station after DeYarmond's performance to sit in with Kanye? We can only hope.
For those following along at home, Gimme Noise will have extensive coverage of this and all of the big events at this year's SXSW festival. Check back for updates from the festival starting Wednesday morning.
