It's October: Get excited about Lovato, Jonas at the '16 State Fair

With Minnesotans dreading the addition of Halloween candy fat to their freshly added Pronto Pup fat, thoughts turn to ... the Minnesota State Fair? Initial 2016 concert details were announced yesterday — Top 40 twosome Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas August 31 at the Grandstand — just weeks removed from the final livestock afterbirth splashing the concrete at this year's fair.

Lovato and Jonas will be swinging through Minnesota on their co-headlining Future Now tour, which is set to kick off next June; it's the former Disney stars' sixth tour together. "Demi and I, we're business partners [and] obviously have a long history of being friends, but the key for us was about living in this moment," Jonas bravely revealed yesterday during an appearance with Lovato on Good Morning America

Last year, Minnesota State Fair organizers managed to hold off until December before spilling details about the 2015 entertainment offerings. In the age of relentless digital branding, though, it makes sense for an event that drew 1,779,738 attendees last year, the fourth-most ever, to remain in the public consciousness.

Lovato is in the midst of promoting her just-dropped fifth album, Confident, which came complete with a sexy rebrand (see photo). She was the musical guest alongside triumphant host Tracy Morgan on the October 17 season premiere of Saturday Night Live. The pop force star behind Song of the Summer candidate "Cool for the Summer" is still for the kids, though, as she scored the vaunted voiceover role of Smurfette in the film Get Smurfy, due in 2017.

Bridled with the responsibility as the cutest Jonas Brother in the mid-aughts, Nick has not disappointed, having bested both bros, career-wise. The former boytoy to Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez released his classic R&B-flavored second solo LP, Nick Jonas, last November. The title was a wild departure from his 2005 solo debut, Nicholas Jonas. The once famously virginal star has since become an unlikely twink icon.

The fair will run from August 25 through September 5 next year, for those of you into planning way, way ahead.
