The Minnesota State Arts Board sent out a newsletter on Tuesday, which revealed the first set of bands and musicians planning to take part in the festivities. The newsletter states that the tribute, "will feature members of the iconic Prince Family, including Morris Day and the Time, Sheila E (UPDATE: Turns out she's out), The Revolution, and New Power Generation, featuring prominent stars of today on guest vocals."
No further acts have been announced at this time, nor has any information about tickets or pricing for the event been made available. The official announcement will arrive sometime after Labor Day, the Associated Press reports.
Event organizers are also seeking creative contributions and artistic ideas from local community groups regarding the tribute, with offers of discounted/free tickets based on level of participation. Ideas and proposals should be sent to Sean Jameson of the North Star Group.
