Infectious electropop duo Fraea drops surprise remix EP

When Fraea dropped their first-ever single, "Criminal," back in Feburary, it was pretty clear that Jessie Daley and Drew Preiner could be the next big thing out of the Twin Cities. The rest of their debut EP, Bend Your Bones, holds up to that promise, and now Fraea are showing that their appeal comes in layers.

Released as a surprise ahead of Fraea's show Thursady at 7th St. Entry, a Bend Your Bones remix EP surfaced Wednesday on Soundcloud. The three-song EP includes a rehash of "Trouble" by Doomtree's Paper Tiger, a robotic take on "Awake" by Minneapolis bass wunderkind Vaski, and an energetic "Criminal" redo courtesy of remix impresario Sombear (who has also reworked tracks for Teagan & Sara). You can listen to the EP below.

"We wanted a diverse mix of sounds to see how far these songs could stretch into different genres, so we reached out to this handful of producers," Daley says of the EP. "Lovin' what each of them are doing individually, and they're also friends and great people, so we were excited to have an excuse to collaborate with them."

When asked whether Fraea has plans for a full-length album, she reports the that band is writing new material but has no set release date.

Hard as it is to believe, tonight's gig at the Entry is only Fraea's fourth live show, and the first three completely sold out. Sooner or later, this fresh-as-hell radio killer is gonna graduate out of First Ave's side venue, but tonight is your chance to say you saw 'em before they were headlining the Mainroom.
