Hymie's announces winter in-store performance series

It seems that the only part of the music industry that is showing any signs of improving is vinyl sales, which rose 17% in 2012, with 4.6 million vinyl records sold in the U.S. throughout the past year. The best news of all found in the recent music industry report is that independent music stores benefited the most from the vinyl resurgence, as indie record shops accounted for 67% of all vinyl purchases made within the past year.
And, as if music fans needed any more reasons to flip through the racks at any of our area's fine record stores, one of the best local independent record shops in Minneapolis, Hymie's Vintage Records, has announced a terrific string of upcoming free in-store performances throughout the winter.
The in-store series begins this Sunday afternoon with the delicately hypnotic folk stylings of the Ericksons, who are still riding high from the celebrated release of their gorgeous new record, The Wild.
The Ericksons are set to perform at Hymie's at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 10. Their sure-to-be special performance kicks off a great run of in-stores that Hymie's has planned throughout the rest of the winter.
On Sunday, February 17, the local blues-rock trio, Up Jumped The Devil, will perform, followed by folksinger/songwriter Brian Laidlaw & the Family Trade on February 22, teenage indie hip-hop crew, the Reel, on February 24, the spirited psych-rock quintet, Narco States on March 3, and Ames, Iowa singer/songwriter Nate Logsdon on March 9.
So, even if the weather stays cold and snowy throughout the next two months, things will definitely be heating up at Hymie's with an impressive array of in-stores that are always free and always all-ages.
Here is the full dates and times of the upcoming in-stores at Hymie's:
