The Hippos and Cloud Cult

HazelFest, the sober music festival organized by the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation treatment center, will return August 6 for its fourth year.

This edition will see nationally rising Twin Cities pop-rock stars Hippo Campus and local indie-rock faves Cloud Cult rock the Hazelden campus in Center City, Minnesota — about 50 minutes northeast of the metro. Tickets to HazelFest — $15-$25; kids under 12 get in for free — go on sale April 19.

In total, you can expect to hear the musical stylings of:

  • Cloud Cult

  • Hippo Campus

  • Davina & the Vagabonds

  • The Honeydogs

  • Pushing Chain

Last week, it was announced the Hippos will play this year's gardenless Rock the Garden; Cloud Cult just released their ambitious new film/album, The Seeker.

Former 89.3 the Current DJ David Campbell, who has spoken candidly about his own battles with addiction, will serve as host of HazelFest.

Speakers will include Goldfinger frontman/animal rights activist John Feldmann on the main stage, plus Johnny Solomon and Molly Moore of Communist Daughter, Gary Stromberg, T. Mychael Rambo, and Thomas Humpston in the #LifeTake2 speaker tent.

And did somebody say "yoga" and "drum circle"? 'Cause both activities are going down.
