One-man-masked-band Hastings 3000 is in the midst of his first tour, which has taken him out to the West Coast, Hawaii, and Japan. Here's the fifth installment of his tour diary (first installment here, second here, third here, fourth here). Check back over the next week for more updates from his tour.
Here's a flyer for the show at 7th Heaven. It's a little disconcerting to be playing shows for the equivalent of $25 to $30 a ticket -- the people here in Japan are so amazingly supportive and ready to rock and roll til the morning comes, and then some!
[jump] In Tokyo, I typically have been sleeping maybe four hours a night, between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. I get up, roll down to Andon Ryukan (an awesome restaurant), then hit the town hard! Tonight we are headed to Harajuku -- currently made famous by Gwen Stefani, "Harajuku girls!" -- to do some filming, promo, and interviews.
Hastings 3000 on the monorail lost in Tokyo:
I may be able to do a lot of stuff at the same time-but I don't know what to do with this:
Here is a shot at Cafe Tempui where we met some monsters and proceeded to get PSYCHO! (I heard them yelling that at some of my shows.)
The things you can buy at the Japanese fish market... Hmm, I think I want to buy a saran wrapped polar bear today, oh here it is!
My tour manager and I hanging out at Rehab in Naha for our show on Saturday night:
Some friends from Punk Bar 6, Munchkins in the Can, and Kadena Air base hanging out at 7th Heaven. Everyone is high energy and willing to help out with anything here in Okinawa!
At a sweet restaurant where they love Michael Jackson and President Obama.

This is Yutika, who drives a solar paneled car and is selling organic foods and music out of his van-helping drive me and my equipment to Rehab! Super cool.
This is Shin, he along with many other cool Okinawan peoples scrambled to help out the shows by bringing amps and equipment to the shows even on motorcycle!
Here is another Hastings 3000 monster sporting a peace sign!
The first thing they handed to me at Rehab, was a pair if faucet underwear.
This is a pic of Sayaka monster who manages Rehab where our show was shut down by the Japanese police!
This is the Japanese police shutting down the show because there was a child sleeping upstairs!
Some friends of Chicken Katsu Records, Okinawa.
We are fighting over the spirits!
Hastings holding in his hand an Okinawan beer, "Orion" pronounced, oh-ree-own!
Guess what we did after we took pikcha!?
A quick visit to "Don Quixote" a superstore in Akihabara, Tokyo that has everything for consumers. This is where we filmed some footage for the video for "Modern Man" until we were escorted out!
Hastings 3000 taking a quick bike ride in Tokyo.
Konichiwa! Here is a clip of the show at 7th Heaven in Okinawa City! I sold out completely all the merchandise that I had on hand including my extra gas masks that I keep as back ups for me to wear!
