Gimme Shelter countown: 3 days

It's all happening! Gimme Shelter: A Benefit for Haiti is only three days away, and we've got all kinds of surprises and special fundraising efforts in place for Saturday's festivities. To get you up to speed, we're profiling a different benefit concert performer every day this week -- we've already covered co-headliners Mark Mallman and Solid Gold, and today we'd like to introduce you to openers Zoo Animal.
The name Zoo Animal will be familiar to those who read our Picked to Click issue this year, as the band came in second place in the 2009 best-new-band poll. Since that time, Zoo Animal has been gigging around town relentlessly, playing practically every weekend and building up a reputation as a simmering, powerful, and intense live act. We're excited to have Zoo Animal kick off the live music portion of this weekend's benefit, so be sure to get there in time for their 6:30 set.
Here's a clip of Zoo Animal playing last week at the MPLS.TV Winter Jubliee at the Bedlam:
Keep your eye on the blog -- later today we will be posting all the set times for Saturday's show, tomorrow we will be profiling DJs Jimmy2Times and Mike 2600, and Friday we will have a special video interview with Peter Wolf Crier. Buy your tickets in advance from the First Ave website or local First Ave ticket outlets.
