Gayngs debut named 'album of the year so far' by Guardian

High praise from a big source across the pond: music critic Paul Lester from UK's Guardian has deemed the debut Gayngs album, Relayted, his "album of the year so far." The supergroup recording, which features 25-plus local and regional artists like Bon Iver, Megafaun, POS, Dessa, Solid Gold, and mastermind Ryan Olson, has been scarcely written about so far. That's due mostly to the fact that the band has yet to supply review copies of the record to critics locally (though they did release the first single last week), so it's especially encouraging to see their first major review written in such a glowing light.

The review even pulls a quote from our initial interview with producer Ryan Olson:

It was a radical departure for all concerned - all comfort zones were instantly demolished. "We just wanted to start playing some soft-rock music," explains Olson. "I'd been listening to a shitload of 10cc and I was just like, yeah, I want to do something like this."
